Case Study House No. 8: Eames House

Eames House or formerly known as Case Study House No. 8 is located at 203 North Chautauqua Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was built and designed by husband-and-wife designers Charles and Ray Eames. The landmark is known for its modern architecture and influencial designs. Eames house reveal a richly decorated, almost cluttered space full of thousands of books, art objects, artifacts, and charming knick-knacks as well as dozens of projects in various states of completion.

Kings Road House or Schindler House

The Schindler House or also known a s Kings Road House is the world’s first house built in modern style. Located in West Hollywood, California, the house was inspired by the communal camp sites that Schindler saw on a trip to Yosemite. The house is not a typical type of  house architecture, why? Because there is no living room, dining room, beds, or any usual part of a normal house in there. It was designed by great architect Rudolf Schindler. The house was built according to the life philosophy of Pauline Schindler and a rather optimistic appreciation of the usually mild Southern Californian climate.

Astors’ Beechwood Mansion

 Astors’ Beechwood Mansion in Newport, RI

Astor’s Beechwood was originally built in the year 1851 for Daniel Parrish. In 1855, it was destroyed by fire and years later it was re-built. Caroline and William Backhouse Astor, Jr purchased the mansion in 1881. They spent two million dollars for the renovation of the Astors’ Beechwood Mansion. It was used as a summer home and became New York upper crust social center.  For 25 years during the Gilded Age, Astors’ Mansion was Society’s center, and The Mrs. Astor was its Queen.

L.A. Historic-Cultural Monument No. 96: Storer House

Created in 1923 and built by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in L.A. Historic-Cultural Monument No. 96. This mansion is made for Dr. John Storer, inspired by Mayan ruins with its xterior made of precast “textile” concrete blocks.

The Storer Mansion has been used in several shows and television episodes. It is also featrured in some hollywood films. Joel Silver, a hollywood producer  snapped it up in 1984 and restored it to its original glory.  He re-construct and bring back the beauty of this historic home. It is really fun to take a journey to the past where we’ve unearthed some famous homes pulled straight from the history books.

First  I define what Page Rank is, PR or Page Rank is the popularity of the pages measurement which is calculated by Google mostly about the number and quality of link. It increases the importance and popularity of your website. Where it is located? At the lower right part of your browser! If you are using firefox, there are add-ons in which you can check it, for example is the Google toolbar.

Yesteday, Google made some updates on their green candy bar. And OMG, our real estate site went down from PR5 into PR3. It is somehow odd, I didn’t expect that result. Maybe I should focus on getting a bunch of relevant links. It made me sad but somehow it also made me smile, why? 

    Because all of its sub-pages received PR1,  LOL! How about yours?

Pittock Mansion | Old Rose in the City of Roses!

Built  in 1914 as a private residence for Henry Pittock. He is a newspaper publisher and one of the richest man at that time. Henry lived here before with his wife, Georgiana, from 1914 to 1919.

Located in the city of Roses, this 22 room French Renaissance chateau is located on 46 acres in Portland, Oregon. It has richly decorated intrerior and architectural design. What an interesting mansion that stands today as a living memorial of their family’s contributions to the city of roses and people. Sounds interesting right? also known as BOURN MANSION. A historic mansion that was built during 1880’s by the richest man in SAN FRANSISCO. No other than William Bourn. Actually, the mansion is not only about sex and drugs, there are also parties and Rock And Roll. But later on, it was bought by eccentric Arden Upp. Who is said to have hosted a lot of extravagant parties, wild and drug-fueled parties!
