The Schindler House or also known a s Kings Road House is the world’s first house built in modern style. Located in West Hollywood, California, the house was inspired by the communal camp sites that Schindler saw on a trip to Yosemite. The house is not a typical type of house architecture, why? Because there is no living room, dining room, beds, or any usual part of a normal house in there. It was designed by great architect Rudolf Schindler. The house was built according to the life philosophy of Pauline Schindler and a rather optimistic appreciation of the usually mild Southern Californian climate.

Astors’ Beechwood Mansion in Newport, RI
Astor’s Beechwood was originally built in the year 1851 for Daniel Parrish. In 1855, it was destroyed by fire and years later it was re-built. Caroline and William Backhouse Astor, Jr purchased the mansion in 1881. They spent two million dollars for the renovation of the Astors’ Beechwood Mansion. It was used as a summer home and became New York upper crust social center. For 25 years during the Gilded Age, Astors’ Mansion was Society’s center, and The Mrs. Astor was its Queen.
